Where are you from?

I’m from Brisbane, Australia.

What’s your background?

I was born in Adelaide, South Australia and grew up on a horse stud in the Adelaide Hills, just outside of Hahndorf. I had two brothers and a sister and we used to run off into the bush for hours, playing, climbing trees and making up stories. We lived through two Ash Wednesday bushfires and I attended the small Lutheran school in town. We moved to Queensland when I was 12 years old.

Describe your life right now

I would describe my life as hectic and full. I have a freelance copywriting and marketing business and I am a mum to 3 teenage boys who eat me out of house and home. I’m also doing a leadership course this year so there’s little time for much else. However, I still manage to go out and spend time with my friends, my boyfriend and other interesting people.

What’s important to you and your life?

If I’m honest I would say what is important to me is being a loving, caring person, experiencing joy, inspiration and wonder every day and raising my kids to be wonderful humans.

I get a lot of joy from people-watching, noticing the little things that most people miss and just being with my boys and my partner.

Wonder, to me, is about learning, spirit, love, curiousity, engagement, presence and joy. What really matters to me is capturing all this in every day, in some way and sharing the experience with others. I want a life that is full of inspired and deep conversation, hot coffee and beautiful connection. I don’t want to settle for less.

What specific experiences, people or events have shaped your view?

When I was 38 I nearly died. I had an ectopic pregnancy and I started to really take stock of what I had achieved in life and what trajectory my life was on. At the time I was married and a stay at home mum. In the years that followed I pulled my kids out of school and began homeschooling them, started a business, left my husband and started afresh. I had totally lost my spark and sense of wonder and in the years since, I’ve gradually discovered it again. I never want to take life for granted again. It’s a precious gift and one I intend on using up fully.
